MASTER'S PROGRAM ON TRANSLATION, CULTURE, AND DIGITAL MEDIA

Objectives

Translation, Culture, and Digital Media is an academic study of human and cultural mobility, its importance stems from the huge flow of people in this era of globalization and its location in a border city close to Spain. This interdisciplinary program aims to train students in Translation Studies, Cultural Studies, and Digital Media Studies.

The program examines the interaction of Moroccan culture with diverse cultures through translation, studying acculturation processes, translating strategies in digital media, and their effects.

Theoretical Framework

This MA program offers grounding in theories of Translation, Cultural, and Digital Media Studies, covering concepts such as ideology, power, class, gender, identity, race, culture, religion, translation, communication, digital media, and representation in cross-cultural contexts.

Skills

  • Analyze anthropological, cultural, literary, and media texts from cultural practitioners, border crossers, and travelers worldwide.
  • Develop translation competence and cultural awareness in the context of digital media.
  • Foster both translation and interpreting skills.
  • Produce accurate translations in English, Arabic, French, and Spanish.
  • Improve research methodologies in translation and cultural studies.
